RESOLUTE FOCUS ON SAFETY, THE COMMUNITIES, AND THE ENVIRONMENT

SSMRC is committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment. We genuinely respect the scarcity of the world’s natural resources and always operate responsibly in the communities where we operate.

Our sustainability initiatives include reducing our carbon footprint through energy efficiency, limiting waste and environmental pollutants on site, ensuring water quality and availability, and minimizing the impact on wildlife and biodiversity through conservation, reclamation, and recycling efforts.

We place an emphasis on:
  • Environmental Stewardship
  • Energy Efficiency & Consumption
  • Water Conservation & Reuse
  • Wildlife Protection and Biodiversity Conservation

We are always identifying opportunities to minimize our environmental impact while empowering economic vitality in the communities where we operate.

We work to curb and control energy consumption in our mining operations, always aiming to reduce our energy consumption needs and evaluating potential renewable energy sources.

ABOUT COMMUNITY PHILANTHROPY

GIVING BACK TO OUR HOST COMMUNITIES.

From the very beginning of the company’s history, we’ve felt a deep and meaningful responsibility to give back to the communities that graciously host our operations. SSMRC spends time with local leaders to determine how to make a positive, lasting impact on our neighbors’ lives.

At Sunshine Complex, SSMRC has given back through education, youth sports, and local nonprofits.  In 2020, we donated Personal Protective Equipment to keep area First Responders safe during their relief efforts of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have provided significant donations and support to an after-school food program at the local elementary school, sponsored youth area sports teams, volunteered and contributed money to local food banks, and financially support The Society of Mining Engineers and the Sunshine Miners Memorial.
